Best places to stay near Alton Towers

Alton Towers theme park and resort is probably on every parent’s radar – I couldn’t wait to go there when I was a kid. It is a fantastic place for families to head to, but being a fair drive from where we live, it would be well worth staying somewhere nearby overnight. So here’s a list of some of the best places to stay near Alton Towers.

The Alton Towers resort itself has its own water park, and themed hotels and it is set in 500 acres of grounds in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. Especially for the younger kids, Alton Towers is home to CBeebies Land, making it the perfect theme park for toddlers and young children. The theme park is open seasonally from mid-March to early November, whilst many of its hotels and amenities are open year-round. We have put together a list of best places to stay near Alton Towers that the whole family will love.

CBeebies Land Hotel

The CBeebies Land Hotel is based within Alton Towers, every room has a separate area especially for toddlers, plus a special entertainment wall planned around interactive play. There are lots of other toddler-friendly features, too, including a cot, baby baths, children’s toilet seats and steps for the bathroom sink. During your Alton Towers break you will get a full English breakfast buffet, evening entertainment, free parking and there is a 9-hole golf course. The Windmill Restaurant is geared up for kids with friendly staff and a fish finger dog, burgers and healthy pasta dishes. It’s an ideal place for little ones.

Dog and Partridge Country Inn

Town end lane, Swinscoe, Ashbourne DE6 2HS

The Dog and Partridge Country Inn is set on the edge of the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border. This Derbyshire Hotel has been owned by the same family for over 30 years and is renowned for the clean accommodation on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Nearby is Alton Towers, Matlock Bath, Chatsworth House, Carsington Water, Haddon Hall and the lovely market town of Ashbourne only a short drive away. The family suites are located in the grounds of the Inn, with a king size double bedroom with lounge area and patio doors and small patio area. A further two bunk bedrooms complete each suite so it’s an ideal base for a family. Each room features a flat-screen TV with free view and DVD players. The family bathroom is located off the 1st bunk room.

Wildhive Callow Hall

Mappleton Rd, Ashbourne DE6 2AA

Wildhive Callow Hall is nestled in 35 acres of beautiful gardens, wild meadow and woodland. This Victorian country house hideaway is situated at the gateway to the Peak District with 15 individually designed bedrooms in the house, two Treehouses and 11 woodland Hives. The Garden Room restaurant and bar serves fresh, seasonal food overlooking the valley. The woodland hideaways are the perfect place if you’re on a family adventure – a Treehouse is ideal with two bedrooms and a kitchenette and views through the woods. The kids would have the best time!

The Tawny Hotel

The Tawny Hotel is an incredible deconstructed hotel in the heart of the English countryside. Guests can enjoy a variety of food and drink choices within walking distance from this hotel. The Travelodge car park has 55 spaces free of charge available on a first come first served basis.

Doubletree by Hilton Stoke on Trent

The Doubletree by Hilton in Stoke on Trent has spacious family rooms with a sofa bed and free wi-fi. The modern and spacious King Family Room offers a variety of amenities, including two 50-inch HDTV’s, a rollaway bed, and WiFi. Their additional facilities include tea and coffee-making facilities, laptop safe, and an iron and ironing board. These rooms can sleep up to six people so are good bases for a family break near to Alton Towers.

The Hilton Garden Inn in Stoke on Trent has plenty on offer including a fitness centre, restaurant, and free WiFi. Families can stay in a spacious King Family Room. You should get a restful night’s sleep in the luxurious Suite Dreams by Serta bed. The room has a chaise lounge and side table, a 49-inch LCD TV and complimentary WiFi. These rooms also feature a mini-fridge, safe, adjustable air-conditioning, coffee/tea maker and an iron/ironing board to make you feel at home.

If none of these tickle your fancy, then what about The Crown Inn, the Holiday Inn Express Stoke, or the Duncombe Arms.
