The Sources Of Stress You Should Eliminate From Your Vacation

Your vacation should be an opportunity to get away from the stresses of the world, but as many of us can attest, all too often it seems to add to them, as well. However, it doesn’t have to be the case. Most sources of travel stress are not only preventable, but also highly predictable. Here, we’re going to look at some of them and what you can do to make sure they don’t spoil your time away.

This is a collaborative post

Don’t Overplan Every Detail

You might want to make sure that you make good use of every minute of your vacation, but having too tight an itinerary can replace feelings of excitement with anxiety to get it all done. Make sure that you leave time for both spontaneity and rest, and prioritize your plans, so you have those few things that are must-see or must-do, but the rest can be moved around to allow for more natural exploration.

Don’t Work Right Up To Departure

It’s a very common pain point that people work until the last possible moment before they start getting ready. Preparing for a flight takes some time, and if you’re rushing to pack and leave, it’s very likely you might forget something, be it in your luggage or even one of those critical documents you need ot get through the airport. Try to give yourself at least the day before you go as a buffer to make sure that you can get everything out of the way before packing.

Avoid The Airport Rush

Poor time planning, traffic, and last-minute decision-making can see you rushing to the airport, making it a much more frantic experience. Leave with enough time to get there two hours in advance of your flight, including time to account for traffic, and pay for airport parking in advance so that you don’t have to worry about finding a place for your car. Starting your trip calmly sets the tone for the entire vacation.

Manage Jet Lag Before It Hits

If you’re flying across time zones, some jet lag is to be expected, but you shouldn’t be caught off guard by it. Take the time to adjust your sleeping schedule, if possible, by sleeping closer to the right time where you’re headed. When you arrive, try to spend time outdoors to give your body clock time to adapt with the help of natural light.

Set A Budget To Avoid Money Anxiety

Financial stress can leave you second-guessing every decision on your journey. Set yourself a realistic budget that covers not just food and essentials, but leaves a little money for play every day, so that you know how much you can spend before you need to take it easily. With the help of travel credit cards, you can also allow yourself a little planned indulgence even if you have the cash immediately, so long as you have the plan to pay it off as soon as you get back.

Of course, a little stress should be expected. Being flexible allows you to accommodate the unexpected and to enjoy your time even if it doesn’t go quite how you imagined. A little resilience, combined with the planning above, can do wonders.
