Christmas Gift Ideas for Babies

What do you get a baby for Christmas when they don’t even know what’s going on? I always used to think there was no point in going over the top, but then I saw how many fab things there are to buy, and have to admit it’s easier said than done!

So here are a few ideas I know your babies will love…

Plum Play 3 in 1 cabin kitchen

plum play kitchen

My boys have this and LOVE it. It’s not just an ordinary wooden kitchen – the 3 in 1 element makes it way more versatile and entertaining. It can inspire hours of imaginative role play, and the fold-out sections can be positioned to create various play scenes.

The kids can get cooking in the kitchen with the frying pan, spoon and spatula, open the oven door (and hide important things like Mummy’s car keys in there!), turn the dials or wash the dishes with the turning taps in the removable sink.

If they ever get bored of the kitchen chores (easily, if they’re anything like me), you can change the scenario and they can then serve milkshakes to the diners or do some laundry in the utility room. Then just before bedtime, swap again and let them take to the stage to put on a show for the whole family. All three of my boys have enjoyed playing with this – but particularly the Twins. The head-in-the-hole panel has been an endless source of peekaboo fun between the two of them. It’s been hilarious to watch. Made of MDF, the kitchen feels sturdy but not so heavy that you can’t move it. I’d definitely recommend it this Christmas!

Bing’s Favourite Things board book

Bing board book

Your babies will love this fabulously-shaped board book this Christmas all about what the popular rabbit loves to do. Perfect for fans of the Cbeebies series, this chunky board book is packed with all the things Bing loves to do from Vooshing with Hoppity to hugs with Flop. It’s shaped like Bing too, so is fun and sturdy for little hands.

Personalised Nursery Rhymes Books

Nursery rhyme book

How cute are these? The charming nursery rhymes book features 23 of your favourite rhymes such as Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Humpty Dumpty and Hickory Dickory Dock complete with fabulous illustrations. You can choose between a hard or softback cover and have it personalised with a name that appears on the front of the book as well as throughout in some of the pictures. You can also choose a personal message which will appear on the inside cover. A perfect first Christmas present, if you ask me!

Little Tikes Sleepy Stacker

My Twin Two is going to absolutely love this – he’s obsessed with stacking anything on top of each other! The Little Tikes Sleepy Stackers bring two classic patterns of play into one toy this Christmas – a stacker and a nesting toy. You can mix and match the characters to open their eyes and make them up. There are nine pieces which make up three different characters, and each body includes a sound, rattle or crinkle feature for your baby to discover. Size H.11cm W7cm D7cm. For ages 6 months and over.

Count with Peppa

Count with Peppa is new for 2018 and helps develop counting skills as well as colour and picture recognition. It comes with 10 interactive play coins, and Peppa asks the child to insert each coin into her purse. Give the coins to Peppa and she will recognise them, count and respond accordingly. Retrieve them from the purse on her tummy and the fun starts over again! There are 8 different activities as well as three songs from the TV series. Suitable for ages 2 and over.

Moo Music Maggie Moo Soft Toy

This incredibly soft and loveable Maggie Moo toy is something every Moo Music lover will want. If your child attends the popular music sessions they will recognise Maggie Moo and love having their own. She is the perfect cuddly toy and Christmas present for all ages.

Goula’s Glupi Musical 3 in 1

If your house is full of too much plastic stuff, this fab wooden toy is a great alternative for your child. The 3 in 1 toy is ideal for developing skills in expressive arts and design, as well as physical development. The Glupi Musical encourages children to experiment and learn new sounds, and has a range of instruments which include a xylophone, güiro and drum. Musical toys are a great way to help your child develop hand-eye co-ordination, an ear for music and rhythm from a young age whilst having fun as they play.  Suitable for children aged 1 and over. Dimensions: H29 x W27.5x D5.5cm

Strider Balance Bike

You may think your baby is too young for a balance bike yet, but the folk at Strider have bikes which are designed to be used by children as young as 18 months! Its aluminium frame is ultra lightweight at just 2.4kg and adjusts from 27cm inside leg to 48cm so can grow with your child. It’s designed to be easy for an 18 month old to handle but strong and quick enough for when they grow up to be speedy 5 year olds! Manufacturers have taken into account the narrow hip spacing of young children at the same time as ensuring a smooth ride.

Gummee Teething Products

If your child is having a teething nightmare, you need to get yourself (or should I say them?), a Gummee Teething product this Christmas. There is something for every age and stage of teething. From the Gummee Glove for tiny babies who cannot yet grip yet, pick n mix silicone teethers or a Molar Mallet for when toddlers’ back teeth are cutting through.

Jungle Heads and Tails Game

Orchard Toys are always a favourite with kids, and this Jungle Heads and Tails Game is no exception. It’s a perfect first matching activity that develops into a fun game for 1 to 4 people, to help young children with their matching, memory and observational skills. It is suitable for children aged 18 months plus, and the thick, wipe-clean cards mean however mucky the children get, this game can be enjoyed over and over.

Thank you! It’s impossible sometimes, especially when they don’t “need” anything! The Peppa toy looks great, my 3 year old was looking over my shoulder at my laptop and has his eye on that one!
