In terms of shopping experiences, wholesale and thrifting offer very different experiences, with one or two similarities. Which one is best for you will depend on a range of factors, including what it is that you require from your shopping experience and how long you’re prepared to wait to find the right item.
This is a collaborative post
Below, we go through some of the main benefits of both wholesale and thrifting, to help you decide which is best for you.
Wholesale
There are a lot of situations where buying wholesale is the best way to go.
Consistency
If you need to have consistent access to the same items, whether you like to have multiple identical t-shirts for your own fit or to start a business, then you’ll need to go with a wholesale provider.
Thrift stores just don’t have any reliability when it comes to what you’ll find. Wholesale is highly consistent, and you should be able to maintain access to the same outfits year after year.
Excellent value
When you buy in bulk from a wholesaler, you get to benefit from their economy of scale. As a result, with larger orders in particular, you can get access to large quantities of high-quality garments at a very competitive price – ideal if you’re starting a clothing business or need to buy uniforms for your employees.
Wide variety
Big wholesalers like Screen Textiles stock an astounding variety of clothing. You’ll be able to get your hands on everything from personalised polo shirts that are just perfect as work uniforms to high vis vests and helmets, depending on your needs.
Thrifting
Thrifting does provide a more unique shopping experience, however, with its own unique benefits.
You’ll be surprised
One of the most fun aspects of thrifting is that you don’t quite know what it is that you’re going to find. It’s a bit like opening your presents as a kid on Christmas or your birthday, and that’s part of the allure.
You could stumble across a pair of sunglasses that you’ve been thinking about for the past ten years, or you could get the coffee maker of your dreams.
It’s a very different experience compared to shopping at a wholesale store, and one that a lot of people will prefer.
Potential for bargains
While thrifting won’t always be super cheap, there is the chance that you’ll stumble across an absolute bargain while thrifting.
It’s true that there are professionals nowadays who go and scour most thrift shops early in the morning, but they will still miss things, and you can still be first.
Again, the exciting part for a lot of people is not quite knowing what you’re going to find on any given day. It could be nothing, or it could be the find of a lifetime.
Buying wholesale and thrifting are ultimately two very different shopping experiences that cater to different needs. It’s worth keeping both in mind as potential options, so that you can access as many sources of fashion as possible.
