Have you ever used a cashback app for your shopping? Well if not, think about the words ‘free money’ then download the JamDoughnut app and start enjoying being quids in.
This is a collaborative post
A cashback app is when you earn free cash on any purchases you make, and there are plenty of them around. Many of them work by you clicking through from the cashback site to a shopping website and then cookies track your visit and if you buy anything it can tell which cashback site you came from. The problem with some of these is that once the cashback is tracked it can show as pending in your account for months before you actually get your hands on it.
That’s where JamDoughnut is different – and better (albeit, there are sadly no ACTUAL jam doughnuts). It adds the cashback into your JamDoughnut account immediately. And surely this is exactly what we want!
What is the JamDoughnut app?
So for those of us who are a little confused, what exactly is the JamDoughnut app? It’s available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, just search for ‘JamDoughnut: Instant Cashback’ and once you’ve installed it on your phone, set up an account. I’ve done this and it literally takes two minutes, if that. You are then ready to start earning free cashback at more than 150 shops both online or in store.
These include everyday places that you are bound to use, such as most of the big supermarkets, as well as restaurants, home stores and travel agents.
How does the JamDoughnut app work?
Rather than clicking through to websites to make your purchases which are then tracked, like on other cashback apps, you buy gift vouchers on the JamDoughnut app for the retailers you want to spend money at. You can then spend those vouchers as and when you want, in the same way you’d use any other e-voucher online, or a normal voucher in a shop.
Other cashback apps often don’t allow discount voucher codes to be used at the same time as earning cashback, but guess what? JamDoughnut does. Because you’re buying a gift voucher via the app before you then go and use it to purchase, say, your weekly shop at Tesco, discount codes are still valid.
If you shop at Tesco and Sainsburys, you can scan Clubcard and Nectar to maximise the savings. Also, JamDoughnut has introduced the feature – loyalty cards. You don’t need to carry physical cards or download their apps to scan the barcode, just simply input in the app. Here is a video which can explain more clearly.
Once you’ve set up an account, search for the brand you’re looking for, buy the e-gift vouchers and JamDoughnut will generate them for you to keep on the app. Then when you go shopping, show the voucher on your phone at the till instead of paying by cash or card. Or if you’re online shopping, add in the code from the JamDoughnut voucher as you checkout. It really is so simple!
At the same time as the voucher you’re buying is being processed, your cashback is being added to your account.
Which shops can earn me cashback?
JamDoughnut works with more than 150 brands, so there are LOADS to choose from. One of the best ways to earn cashback is on your weekly groceries, mainly because it’s a regular purchase, and if you’re anything like me – you spend a lot! Supermarkets that are on the JamDoughnut app include Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Iceland, M&S and Waitrose.
If you eat out a lot, then it’s worth downloading the JamDoughnut app as there are some great restaurants on there. Places such as Miller & Carter, Cafe Rouge, Turtle Bay, Zizzi, Pizza Express, Bella Italia and Nandos. Or if it’s just a coffee and cake you fancy, you can buy vouchers through the app for Costa, Starbucks and Caffe Nero. Even Greggs is on there!
Events and entertainment venues are also on the app, such as Cineworld, Go Ape, Ticketmaster, National Trust and Virgin Experience Days. As well as home and garden stores such as Dunelm, B&M and Ikea. I wish I’d known about this 2 months ago when I was kitting out my new house from top to bottom – I’d have made an absolute fortune!
In fact I reckon whatever you’re looking to buy, whether it’s a dress or a dressing table, new books or new boots, there would be a retailer on the JamDoughnut app that has what you need. So you might as well get some of that free money at the same time, right?
Categories on the app are:
- Gaming
- Travel and Holiday
- Health and Wellness
- Eating Out
- Events and Entertainment
- Groceries
- Home and Garden
- Shopping and Fashion
- Takeaway
- Sports

How do I use the app to get cashback?
Once you’ve decided what you’re going to buy, logon to the app on your phone and either use the search bar at the top to find what you’re looking for, or scroll through the categories of various retailers. You can also let the app use your location and it will then show you which local retailers are on JamDoughnut.
When you click on a brand, step by step instructions come up to tell you what to do. Click on ‘Purchase Securely’ at the bottom of the screen and enter the amount you want for your new gift card. You can then either pay directly from your bank app, or by using Apple Pay. If you pay via your bank you receive a slightly higher percentage of cash back than on Apple Pay to cover banking fees.
Once JamDoughnut has received your payment an e-gift voucher is generated and can be found in the wallet section of the app. You’ll also receive an email, and you’re good to go shopping! Once you’re at the till of the store, or online, just find it again in the wallet for it to be scanned.
You also get extra points in your account the first time you buy a voucher on the app.
How much cashback will I get?
Well that’s a good question and it depends on where you make your purchases. The amount of cashback varies from retailer to retailer. Supermarkets are pretty low, most of them seem to be about 2% but considering how much you’d probably spend on them, it’s surprising how quickly it all adds up. I’ve got a friend who has earned herself £150 in just a few months using JamDoughnut and primarily for her groceries.
Other retailers are much higher, with places like Buy A Gift at 15% and Naked Wines at 12%. Even fashion retailers such as River Island and Asos are up around the 7% cashback mark.
When can I claim the actual cash from JamDoughnut?
The cashback is available in your JamDoughnut account as soon as you’ve bought an e-gift voucher but you can only withdraw it once you’ve reached 1,000 points which is the equivalent to £10. So the more you use the app for purchases, the more you’ll earn, and the quicker you can get your hands on it.
There are then two ways for you to withdraw it. You can have JamDoughnut pay you it in vouchers and earn the full amount. You can choose which retailer you want vouchers for which will also then get you cashback. Or you can get it paid out in cash straight to your bank, but there is a small fee for this.

What else do I need to know about JamDoughnut?
JamDoughnut runs a referral scheme in which you get a referral code when you sign up – mine is BZVJ which you should all now use to help me out! You can give the referral code to friends and family and if they sign up and use the app you’ll get extra points when they cash out for the first time.
JamDoughnut also runs Pumped Up Offers on their app and website. This is where cashback for certain retailers is ‘pumped up’ for a limited time, so you can buy vouchers at higher rates. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on the offers.
On the app, there is a geolocation feature, so if you put in your location, it shows you all the retailers local to you which offer cashback. This is super handy!
There are also chances to win back up to 100% of what you spend with certain brands, such as Aldi, in the JamDoughnut ‘Win It Back’ game show. It’s run every weekday through the app.
Final thoughts on JamDoughnut
JamDoughnut is the longest established instant cashback provider and is the highest rated cashback provider on Google, Apple and Trustpilot. It sells a gift card every 5 seconds to someone in the UK so it must be doing something right!
I for one am absolutely going to give it a try. It might take a bit of getting used to, to remember to buy a gift voucher before actually going shopping, but with so many retailers on the app that I spend money with regularly, I’d be stupid not to give it a go. I actually think I might get a bit obsessed!
If you fancy trying it yourself, find out more details here, download the app and start earning that free money. The video below will guide you. Just don’t forget to use my referral code BZVJ first!
