If you worry about things being lost or stolen and are thinking of investing in a GPS tracker, then the PAJ GPS Power Finder 4G could be right up your street.
This is a collaborative post and I received the tracker in return for an honest review.
You might think having a GPS device is what they do in the movies, but more and more people are using a tracking device – and on all sorts of things.
The PAJ Power Finder 4G is a GPS tracker designed to be used on cars primarily and any bigger item such as a boat or mobile home. Okay, it might not prevent that item from being stolen in the first place, but it gives the owner huge peace of mind that it could be returned.
PAJ GPS, founded in Germany in 2011, does other GPS trackers for smaller items such as bikes, and even pets, children and other family members which I’ll mention later, but this PAJ Power Finder 4G, although designed for cars, can also be used for any of that too if you only want to buy one device and are looking at best options.
It determines its position using satellites and sends it to the FINDER portal. You can then check this exact location at any time online and also adjust the alert settings on your mobile devices. You can set up notification alerts to the app or email in case of shaking, lifting/dropping, low battery, and exceeding the speed limit.
The app has a real time live tracking function so you can see the location of your vehicle, or whatever you want to track, it connects to local 4G networks, and updates every 30 seconds.
You can also set up a designated area known as a geo zone or geo fence and if the device leaves that area you are notified. This means you can set up a specific area and it’s not alerting you needlessly if the car is on the usual school run, or trip to the shops you do regularly. You can also see the real time location of the device via the android or iPhone app or your laptop.
The advantages of a GPS tracker with PAJ Power Finder include:
- They are compatible with all devices, such as smartphones, laptops, or PCs
- The service is available in more than 100 countries so great for when travelling
- In cases of emergency the trackers have an instant alert function which contact you via push notifications and emails
- No assembly is required – they arrive good to go, other than needing to charge them up.
What is in the box of the PAJ Power Finder 4G?
- PAJ GPS Power Finder 4G
- M2M SIM card which is already inserted in the device and is irreplaceable
- PAJ GPS Portal FINDER (subscription required)
- Charger with cable and USB wall plug
- Adhesive magnet to attach the device to the item you want to track
Getting started with your PAJ GPS tracker
Before you use the Power Finder, you need to charge it for 8 hours. You then have to open the cover of the Finder and turn the switch to on. I personally found opening both the cover and the battery compartment extremely hard to do, and had to use a screwdriver to prize them open.
The GPS tracker device can last up to about 40 days with an active tracking duration of one hour per day and in standby mode for up to 90 days. When it’s not moving it switches to standby mode. You can also check the rechargeable battery life via the app. Then choose your monthly subscription to activate the Finder. Options are £3.75 per month (£89.99 every 2 years), £4.58 per month (£54.99 yearly) or £5.99 a month.
And then you’re good to go! Hide it somewhere out of sight in your car, or on whatever valuable assets you want to track. Use the magnet, and don’t worry if you’re using it on a boat, it’s splash proof. Just make sure it’s somewhere that you can still reach easily as it’s a good idea to bring it in a charge once a month or so.
The Power Finder 4G is ideal for cars or caravans to know the vehicle’s location. But it’s not the smallest if you want to use it for more mobile uses. It measures 109mm x 61mm by 30.5mm and weighs 302g.
Other GPS trackers available from PAJ
But PAJ also sells a range of other smaller products which are ideal for personal GPS tracking. There’s the EASY Finder 4G, ALLROUNDER Finder 4G, and ALLROUND Finder which all give great results if you want to track the person’s current location.
These would be the perfect solution for putting in your kids’ backpack or zip up coat pocket or could even be used for elderly parents or grandparents. You could attach them to your bike so loved ones can know where you are and if you’re safe. Many of the trackers also have an SOS button function which would send an alert to your phone. They even do one that can go on the collar of a dog and track them!
The other great way to use one of these trackers is when travelling. Put any of the trackers in your suitcase or bags, in case your luggage goes missing. That way, when you get off the plane and your bag doesn’t arrive at the same destination, you can check your phone or other smart device, find its GPS location and see exactly where it’s been left. I’m not saying you’ll definitely get it back, but surely being able to tell the lost luggage staff where it’s located is a good start. I’m definitely going to do this on my next flight.
So whether you want a car GPS tracker to find your car in a busy multi-storey, if you are worried about car theft, or want a smaller device to track your children when they are old enough to go out on their own, PAJ will have the right thing for you.
